Excellent old variety but susceptible to smut (Tilletia maclaganii). 'Cave-In-Rock' and 'Blackwell' are excellent varieties further west in lower humidity and higher summer temperatures. Flood tolerant but withstands droughty soils. Fine for CRP as it will not be harvested.
